Roles & Responsibilities:

The Podimetrics SmartMat medical device uses patented technologies to take a thermal mapping of our patient’s feet to inform care decisions focused on preventing diabetic foot ulcers. The Shipping & Receiving Associate plays a critical role as an integral part of the supply chain and order fulfillment process by ensuring that high-quality medical devices are delivered accurately and on time to patients in our care management program. This position has broad responsibilities that include analyzing devices returned from patients, inspecting/receiving new devices, managing inventory, and shipping new orders. It requires the ability to work independently and reliably in a fast-paced, changeable environment. We are at a very exciting time in our business and expect to rapidly grow our sales volume. We are looking for someone who can solve problems and has the potential to grow into a larger role as our company grows. You would be essential to maintaining a high quality of care & satisfaction for patients and our health as a business. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Accurately fulfilling orders to patients and customers. Daily picking, packaging, and shipping of finished devices and promotional materials in an FDA, ISO, and HIPAA compliant process to patients and providers. Carefully verifying and documenting customer shipment data. Great accuracy is required in a detailed, high-volume process.

  • Receipt & inspection of finished devices. Inspect and document devices to their specifications and maintain FDA and ISO compliant inspection, inventory storage, and record-keeping. Issuance of NCMRs.

  • Receipt, processing, and evaluation of used devices. Evaluate and process used devices returned for remanufacturing. Prepare returned devices for inspection and root cause analysis in collaboration with Engineering, QA, and Care Management.

  • Storage and transfer of finished devices. An average of one day per week is spent in Westborough, MA receiving/inspecting finished devices at our contract manufacturer and then driving/transporting inventory from our contract manufacturer to the home office in Somerville, MA. 

  • Communicating well and keeping privileged information confidential. Patient information must be kept confidential in a HIPAA compliant manner. Role regularly requires communicating clearly & professionally with Clinical Ops, Care Management, Engineering, our Contract Manufacturer, and QA. 

  • Continuous improvement. Will actively seek problems to solve and assist in the development of new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and increase our volume & device quality.


  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 to 4 years experience in an inspection or fulfillment role

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel & Word

  • ERP system experience

  • Able to stand for long periods of time. Bend, twist and squat while moving 10 to 20 lbs

  • Able to comfortably lift 50 lbs and repetitively move 10 to 20 lbs packages in high volume

  • Good driving record and current driver’s license



  • High volume shipping and warehousing experience

  • Experience working in a cGMP environment

  • Experience in electronics assembly or electronics QC inspection/testing

  • 5S or other lean manufacturing experience

  • Complaint analysis experience

  • Experience with medical device or aerospace manufacturing including plastics and/or electronic components injection
