In this highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging position, you will be collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. The Sr. System Analyst - Epic Grand Central & Security trains users and fields their application queries, studies and fine-tunes workflows, updates user securities, and develops templates and order sets based on the ever-changing needs of the hospital. Your role requires extensive knowledge of the Epic Ambulatory application and clinic operations and is the top role among departmental "super users"; it is the highest level application specialist and overall administrator of the system functionality.

Your Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is preferred
  • 5-8 years of healthcare IT experience is required
  • Epic certification and one or more years working with Epic Grand Central and/or Security is strongly preferred; Epic RTE certification is desired
  • Functional knowledge of EHR software
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Previous experience in healthcare is preferred; familiarity with clinical roles and medical terminology is very helpful
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally with other application teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with various levels of staff

Your Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain templates, order sets and provider favorites that are in the Epic System
  • Training and developing other "super users" in the clinical areas who would be able to handle simple, day-to-day operational use of the application; provide on-going support of the higher level system functionality that goes beyond the expertise of the departmental super users; investigate best practice models and train staff on how to maximize efficiency of the system
  • Manage the security and IDs for all users
  • Investigate and resolve issues that arise with templates and order sets
  • Communicate progress to the affected users routinely; field questions from physicians and staff on the use of the templates, order sets, and tools as well as collecting feedback on changes needed
  • Create reports for users that will allow them to retrieve data in response to internal and external requests for data; generate additional reports and general analysis that goes beyond the scope of the user's expertise
  • Serve as the department's liaison with Epic and open service issues as required within the Epic Userweb website; maintain ownership of these tasks and frequently monitor, update and complete tasks; coordinate any system changes which affect other areas of the hospital with IS and request the proper authorization as needed
  • Stay abreast of functionality improvements in new versions and testing during upgrades and take advantage of available resources to improve knowledge and understanding of the system
  • Test new releases and apply specialized knowledge and experience to the process to ensure that version upgrades function smoothly
  • Serve as a liaison with the IS department to facilitate communication to the GME physicians and staff during the upgrade process; establish reasonable implementation timelines with input from program directors, IT and administrators
