Your Job:

The Resource Specialist receives ships/mails, restocks, fulfills requisitions, delivers/transport materials, assists with inventory and supports supply chain needs of the hospital system, while maintaining a clean, safe environment. Demonstrates mastery of computerized inventory. Acts as a liaison between Corporate Supply Chain and hospital based Supply Chain departments, communicating problems and requirements.

Your Job Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with some college. An associate's degree in business or related fields a plus. May substitute 3 years of inventory management experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • 3 or more years' healthcare experience in a computerized environment with knowledge of medical supplies.
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory control methods and warehousing techniques.
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Able to work in a stressful environment during a crisis condition.
  • Detail oriented and good with numbers, basic math skills essential.
  • PC literate, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and/or similar programs.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the operation of materials handling equipment
  • Is able to communicate in a professional manner in English with all levels of individuals both orally and in writing. Uses strong spelling and grammar skills.
  • Uses good problem solving skills. Is proactive, not reactive, and is able to analyze facts accurately, developing recommendations and taking appropriate actions to resolve or avoid issues that have proven to be problematic.
  • Demonstrates good customer service skills. Is able to listen and understand customer needs and follows up to assure that both parties are mutually satisfied with the service provided.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is a self starter. Is able to work independently, prioritizing and organizing workload effectively to complete tasks within the time frames delegated.
  • Knowledgeable about and follows safety measures.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and is able to flex schedule and perform other duties in the department as needed.
  • Maintains a driving record that is clean with no more than one moving violation and no at fault accidents within the past twelve months.

Your Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding of inventory principles and acts in accordance with set standards and in coordination within using units of the hospital. Is able to proficiently issue, receive, and service hospital par levels and specialty carts regardless of campus.
  • Represents MHS in an honorable manner adhering to driving regulations and drives in a polite and courteous manner. Delivers and picks up supplies, lab specimens, equipment, mail, data reports and other items, adhering to a preplanned schedule, including STAT orders. Utilizes packing tracking application to record pick and delivery handoffs routinely uploading data to assure timely data is available to answer customer inquiries.
  • Accurately enters patient charges and inventory transactions via MMIS, Point of Use and Patient Healthcare systems.

  • Demonstrates communication skills including follow thru that keeps all stakeholders up to date/informed and promotes teamwork. Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction in all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains a neat and safe work environment. Removes empty cardboard containers. Utilizes equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Leaves work area at the end of shift in an orderly manner.
  • Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service, working closely with others to positively achieve department objectives. Demonstrates flexibility thru the modification of the assigned schedule in order to meet customer demands with minimal notification.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability and performs other duties as assigned.
