Growing logistics company in Savannah needs a Industrial Engineer to start immediately! 

The Industrial Engineer is a key member of the engineering team supporting warehouse operations, continuous improvement projects, lean initiatives, KPI reporting, and problem resolution.  This individual will work closely with the other Industrial Engineers as well as cross functional teams including warehouse operations leadership, IT, Safety, Maintenance, and Executive Leadership.

1st shift. Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (plus evening hours as needed)

The Industrial Engineer also serves as a key liaison between business development and corporate initiatives.  Performs times studies and analysis of labor allocation to support operations and contract negotiations.  Utilizes critical thinking skills to troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions.  Performs responsibilities with minimal management guidance.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Identify logistics improvement opportunities through process analysis and critical thinking
  • Analyze and document existing operational processes within PCL
  • Continuously evaluates pricing models through the utilization of sound engineering principles resulting in productivity and quality enhancements
  • Design operational processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste
  • Develop and design production standards in collaboration with Operations leadership and associates utilizing Labor Management System
  • Analyze and improve facility layout to determine personnel requirements considering throughput, capacity, flow, efficiency, and quality
  • Conducting time/motion studies to improve efficiencies
  • Defines KPIs and reporting requirements to benchmark process improvements in conjunction with warehouse leadership and IT
  • Presents cost benefit analysis independently for technology improvements by conducting detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine the feasibility of purchasing new operations equipment and/or systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve results or work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external resources, gain credibility with senior management and manage through conflict with a positive, flexible attitude and professionalism
  • Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization and presentation skills
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds while demonstrating the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers, and vendors
  • Trains managers on engineering principles, methods, and procedures
Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering
• 3+ years of Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Operations Research, or related field of experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Microsoft Excel)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering models and facility layouts
• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
Optional Skills

• Demonstrate understanding WMS applications including LMS and YMS basics
• Execute tactically while concurrently managing multiple projects and complex priorities within demanding timeframes
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of warehousing and distribution operations
• Demonstrate understanding of Engineered Labor Standards and SOP development
• Shows a history of researching and identification of solutions to complex problems
