Your Impact
Playing a central role in HGSF’s efforts to sustain low-income homeownership, the Home Preservation Construction Manager oversees the completion of home rehabs and critical repairs across Marin, SF and San Mateo Counties.  Joining Habitat Greater SF’s Home Preservation program at a time of rapid growth and increasing impact, the Construction Manager (CM) will hire and direct a team of production managers, foreman, and apprentices, delivering high quality repairs and improvements for low-income homeowners, including vulnerable seniors, who lack access the conventional means to make these critical investments.  The CM will develop and implement key systems to ensure that rehabs are delivered with quality, integrity and efficiency. With oversight on scoping jobs, estimating costs, and project schedules, the CM holds responsibility for the entire Home Preservation portfolio. 

Primary Responsibilities
Construction Management & Administration (75%)
  • Evaluate repair applications for qualification based on program criteria and project feasibility
  • Implement a system for conducting Home Assessments in order to inform project scopes
  • Oversee an annual portfolio of home rehabs, creating and managing a master schedule and budget to ensure that project completion goals are met and within budget
  • Solicit and qualify subcontractor bids for outsourced work, executing master contracts when possible
  • Assign HGSF Production Managers to projects and track rehab schedule and budgets through completion
  • Coordinate with Volunteer Services and Production Managers to plan for and engage community volunteers in repair projects
  • Create reports as needed for Program funders, Executive staff and Board of Directors
  • Ensure operational compliance with CalOSHA Construction Safety Standards, EPA Lead Safe Renovation practices, and funder requirements, and maintain all necessary documentation
Leadership (25%)
  • Hire and manage a team of production managers, foreman and apprentices, providing coaching, development opportunities, routine communications and regular performance feedback
  • Support annual planning efforts to develop program goals, schedules and budget

  • Minimum of 15 years construction experience with at least five years in an administrative, management role
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry standards and best practices, including contract administration
  • Residential remodel and renovation experience in SF Bay Area is strongly preferred
  • Passion for teaching others and building a highly effective team
  • Excellent strategic thinker with ability to manage 25-50 home rehab projects annually
  • Desire and ability to work well with all types of people while fostering positive relationships with co-workers, homeowners, community members, inspectors/officials, and subcontractors/vendors.
  • Proficiency with computers, including software programs such as MS Office suite, and an ability to utilize Customer Relations Management (CRM) and Construction Management software
  • Driving required. Valid CA Driver’s License and clean driving record required
  • Must be able to pass background check
    (In accordance with state and county law: convictions do not necessarily rule out employment, it depends on the nature and severity of the conviction and is evaluated on a case by case basis, check is conducted on last 7 years only.)
Work Environment
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and stand or bend as necessary. Must be able to travel within HGSF’s service area. Driving is required. Sometimes this role works in outside conditions that may include inclement weather, heat and humidity.

Physical Demands
This is a largely office-based role; however, various external meetings, site visits, and local travel is required. This would require the ability to negotiate construction sites. Must be able to travel.

Compensation for this role is competitive, DOE. This full-time position offers medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance program (EAP), Flex Savings Account (FSA), 403b retirement account, commuter benefits, 20 paid vacation days, 3 sick days (accrue up to 72 hours/year)  and 13 paid holidays.

Pay Range
$118,000.00   Annually to $133,000.00   Annually
