Job Summary

To perform standard Engineering tasks to ensure repairs and maintenance requirements are met with specified levels of quality. Manage and provide technical support in the investigation, repair and overhaul of Skyway APM (Automated People Mover) systems removed from service so that the objectives set for the operations are achieved.  Work with the management team to develop, communicate and achieve tactical and strategic goals in areas such as COPQ, Fleet uptime, vehicle/system failures, Quality and delivery assurance.  Develop systems and processes which establish and maximize flow within the business.  Work with all levels of management, personnel and customers. He/She will address infrastructure needs, signaling, vehicle system, train control and digital mobility solutions. Responsible for providing leadership and support to projects by developing procedures, test cases, methods and equipment. He/She will also develop standardized and reusable (from system to subsystem) test cases and troubleshooting methods in compliance with standards and traceability requirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Diagnosis and repair of various components removed from service
  • Liaise with APM and subsystems Technical support and external Engineering support to correctly identify root cause of units returned from service.
  • Support investigations and technical queries
  • Provide specialist electronics support to workshop technicians to meet the business turnaround time and business performance targets.
  • Develop and provide training in coordination with training department to enhance technical capability of repair base.
  • Diagnose test rig breakdowns.
  • Support test rig upgrades
  • Develop test plans, procedures, cases, methods, troubleshooting guidance.
  • Conduct peer reviews and provide technical leadership to Team.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and help diagnose root cause of issues to successful resolution.
  • Liaise and coordinate with automation divisions, partners, & suppliers.
  • Develop best practice and lessons learned.
  • Design special tools and test equipment required for testing and commissioning.
  • Develop instrumentation, test, and standardized troubleshooting methods.
  • Assure compliance to standards and provide technical leadership to ensure reliability, testability and maintainability of product to requirements.
  • Ensure all data is adequately recorded in designated tool M(s) (e.g. Maximo).
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Plans, coordinates, assigns, and supervises work of fleet maintenance personnel including mechanics and utility employees.
  • Helps prepares budget for maintenance and system operations.
  • Maintains labor, material and equipment records and prepares other related reports. Analyzes and evaluates work activities to determine cost, efficiency, and compliance with established budgetary guidelines.
  • Assists in preparing specifications for fleet vehicles and wayside equipment.
  • Responsible for safety plan, maintenance plan, and maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates system service activities, prepares industry required reports and establishes lean practices.
  • Reviews and evaluates vehicle conditions and advises department heads of this evaluation.
  • Prepares bids or Requests For Purchases (RFPs) for maintenance and operation procurements.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or closely related field and a minimum of five year relevant experience in business administration, engineering, finance, fleet management, or similar duties.

An advanced degree is preferred with prior experience in the transportation industry.

· Must be able to initiate any Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) and Failure Management System Recovery (FMSR) procedures when needed.

· Must be able to comprehend and apply operational and safety procedures.

· Ability to follow procedures and direct action often under stressful conditions.

· Ability to convey clear directions in resolving problems.

· Ability to communicate well with employees and the public.

· Ability to track work request through Oracle Network.

· Ability to maintain a complex data base system for daily reports.

· Ability to work on multiple functions simultaneously.

· Ability to interact in a team environment.

· Ability to communicate and interact with professionalism and tact with audiences at various levels.

· Ability to lead a team, or be a participant, regardless of position within the Authority.

· Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair.

· Knowledge of principles and practices of effective administration and supervision.

· Knowledge of occupational hazards and accident prevention methods in assigned area of responsibility.

· Ability to retain records, prepare reports, and maintain files.

· Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public.

· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Optional Skills

· Ensures compliance with DOT CFR 49/1415 regulations for rail fixed guideway systems.

· Conforms to all safety rules and wears/uses all appropriate safety equipment.

· Responsible for completing all mandatory training classes.

· Responsible for reviewing and complying with all policies, procedures and directives.
