Founded in 2003, HHS Construction is a leading provider of infrastructure services to major telecommunications and cable providers primarily in Southern California, and adjacent geographies. HHS Construction’s core capabilities include aerial, underground and substructure self-perform construction; ISP services; wireless services including Small Cell/CRAN installation, utility coordination, turn-key RF testing and maintenance; telecom engineering; placement and splicing of copper, coaxial and fiber optic cables; and pole maintenance. HHS Construction is headquartered in Ontario, California.

Job Summary:
HHS Construction, LLC. is searching for an experienced Shop Manager, who will oversee the facility and will be responsible for maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet of vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Plans and coordinates tasks and activities of company’s fleet auto repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment
  • Prepares maintenance schedules for motor vehicles and heavy equipment; notifies drivers and operators when maintenance is to be performed
  • Operates diagnostic equipment to determine repairs that need to be made
  • Performs repairs and maintenance for company vehicles and equipment
  • Maintains database of maintenance and repair records for company vehicles and equipment
  • Oversees shop inventory, (orders parts, shop supplies, and equipment)
  • Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed in facility
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent diploma/GED and minimum 5 years’ experience in a Shop Manager role or in fields relating to medium/heavy duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair or similar
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English, Bi-lingual Spanish, is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license (Class A CDL preferred) and clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently, have good critical thinking / problem solving skills, follow directions, and be self-motivating
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner and perform their duties in an honest, ethical, and diligent manor
  • Must have and maintain good driving practices
  • Must possess good time management skills and be able to schedule/complete repairs within allocated time frame
  • Must be available / willing to work overtime as needed. Hours to be flexible and may include 1 weekend workday, to be discussed further
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to maintain service record database and track inventory
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine repair
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle, truck, and heavy equipment repair
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
  • Knowledge and experience with Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel engines
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Must furnish own tools and work boots. (Specialized tools such as computer scanners provided by HHS)
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Associates or Trade school degree in the field of automotive or diesel repair
  • Basic knowledge of automotive / diesel systems and 1-year minimum experience in a shop environment
  • Knowledge and experience with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, grinders etc.
  • ASE certifications / Air Conditioning 609 certification
  • Welding certifications
  • Qualified to perform BIT / DOT inspections
  • Brake Certifications for air systems
  • Conditions may vary. Most work will be done in Ontario but there can also be times where an emergency breakdown requires a field repair we must respond to- as is, where is. HHS provides all safety equipment such as eye, ear, face, safety vests and related protection.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on trailers and trucks such as lights, etc.
  • Ability to furnish own personal hand tools. More specialized equipment will be provided by the company
  • Ability to operate floor jacks, change tires, break down tires off steel rim assemblies and repair flat tires
  • Perform lube, oil, and filter changes on a variety of different equipment
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment
