We are working with a fast-growing food company that is at the forefront of transforming the way leafy greens are grown and distributed in the United States. This company currently operates 16 acres of production at 6 greenhouse farms in the Northeast and Midwest and is in the process of building 5 new regional hubs that will increase production by 60 acres over the next 2 years. Their long-range plan includes building over 200 acres and expanding into additional product lines.

We are seeking a Buyer who specializes in the purchasing of raw materials. This individual will be responsible for procuring seeds, grow media, biocontrol, and fertilizers.  Reporting into the Director of Procurement; this person will utilize numerous procurement principles such as: supplier negotiations, financial analysis, supplier and material strategies, and be the primary link between cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the sourcing strategy considering cross functional inputs
  • Develop vendor partnerships and negotiate new contracts, renewals, pricing, NDA’s, Amendments, etc. with inputs from Procurement and Supply Chain teams
  • Work with Greenhouses and Supply Chain teams to continuously improve vendor performance through management KPIs
  • Set portfolio goals with Procurement Director alignment and track performance through portfolio KPIs
  • Develop supply resilience plan through VMI, alternate approved suppliers, etc.
  • The scope of this role may change as needed

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant Procurement experience, preferably in FMCG manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams
  • Ability to collect and analyze information from multiple sources and prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and present recommendations
  • Advanced computer skills, including full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret general industry documentation
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision, self-starter
