We are working with a Certified B Corporation and industry leader in the frozen treats space.  In the last 25 years, this company has brought some of the first ready-to-eat ingredients to commercialization. 

We are seeking a Process Engineer. This individual is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the food manufacturing processes, including equipment, utilities, facility, and the supporting work instructions for production. This role partners with operations, maintenance, R&D, safety & quality teams as well as external partners, OEMs, and contractors to lead continuous improvement activities for both production and the facility operation.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure operations & maintenance teams are fully equipped to integrate new equipment into an existing food processing facility.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party service to equipment and the facility, from recurring service to large-scale construction projects.
  • Improve production processes by leading projects and efficiency improvements focused on reduction of waste including labor savings and materials scrap
  • Lead equipment improvement activities with vendors to solve recurring issues in the facility or production spaces
  • Use KPIs and more specific measures of equipment and process reliability, yield/scrap and efficiency to identify priorities for improvement, trends requiring attention, and verification of effectiveness
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment to collect data, implement trials, assist in training
  • Responsible for preparing business case analysis on improvement opportunities, project budgets, cost tracking, and successful execution
Required Skills/Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with 5-7 years experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably food production
  • Experience in conducting experiments & trials in a manufacturing environment, while maintaining Food Quality & Safety through GMPs, Sanitary Design, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, environment & operations personnel with a Continuous Improvement focus. 
  • Experience in applying appropriate problem-solving tools, change management, and improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments
  • Experience in project management with the ability to design and plan major equipment, process and facility projects
  • Ability to prepare technical documents, specifications and cost estimates for projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel in a diverse organization
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, and noisy (up to 90 dba) work environment
  • Ability to make objective decisions based on comparative cost-benefit and other appropriate analyses
  • Proven experience developing, implementing and summarizing scientific tests/experiments
