Gudenkauf, a Congruex Company Gudenkauf is a diversified telecommunications, utility, and systems integration solution provider with the personnel, equipment, expertise, and experience to deliver even in the toughest and most complicated conditions. Job Summary: Cable installer This is an entry-level position, consisting of building pathways and installing cables (copper and fiber optic cabling) in all types of environments. From commercial office buildings, manufacturing, and industrial facilities to campus environments. This position will primarily work within central Ohio, but some travel and overnight stays are required.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Follow directions from Technician/Lead Technician on the job site
Build cable pathways consisting of J-hooks, conduit, and cable tray following the direction of Technician/Lead Technician
Install copper and fiber optic cable with direction from Lead Technician/Lead Technician
Learn termination and testing methods for copper and fiber
Climb ladders and operate aerial platforms as needed to complete daily construction assignments
Other responsibilities, as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications: General:
Must be able to lift, push and pull at least 50 lbs. regularly and 100 lbs., as needed, with or without assistance
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials, and working at heights up to 60 feet comfortably
Ability to distinguish colors
Must have safety-toed boots (to be paid by the employee)
Be able to work exposed to inclement weather (cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.)
Travel required
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, but there are times when nights and weekends will be required
Must be able to work long hours (overtime), weekends and holidays as needed
Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Must be able to communicate effectively and maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers, manager, customers, etc
Must adhere to safety practices and procedures at all times
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, and background screen including an acceptable motor vehicle report
Must be at least 18 years of age
Good communication skills with the ability to interact with the crew, leadership, and customers
Teamwork orientation and ability to function effectively as an integral part of a team and as a team leader
Candidate to supply basic hand tools, PPE, and specialty tools will be supplied by the company
Technical:
We are looking for several career-minded individuals and will train selected candidates
Good understanding of how to use basic hand tools and power tools
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Maintain a current DOT medical card and medical examination report; will help the selected candidate obtain
Maintain OSHA 10 Certification; will help the selected candidate obtain
Maintain OSHA 30 Certification; will help the selected candidate obtain
