The Senior Training Specialist will collaborate with cross functional teams from all departments to lead in the creation and development of training programs, curricula, course materials and measurements that support business strategies and are compliant with regulatory, quality systems, and Business Conduct Standards. This role provides ongoing product and service skills training opportunities through a variety of forums and media, including hosted webinars, pre-recorded and face to face training and employing interactive methods that support adult learning principles. The Senior Training Specialist reports to the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) and will provide guidance and mentorship to the training team.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of specialty wire and cable and OmniCable’s value proposition with a demonstrated ability to navigate internal systems. The desire to create content based on sales and product experience and learn new product lines to be an effective trainer and facilitator is essential to be successful in this role.
Primary Responsibilities:- Develop innovative approaches and techniques for making improvements in instructor-led training programs including webinars, virtual classrooms, and blended learning environments
- Create training curricula including participant guides, handouts, job aid charts, and other material
- Provide guidance and support to the internal training team including best practice sharing, troubleshooting, day to day direction regarding training objectives
- Maintain pre- and post-training testing activities to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and initiatives.
- Conduct customized training for internal, cross-function teams; including training dates, locations, enrollment information, and other necessary information to prepare and deliver excellent training programs
- Ensure that training costs do not exceed allocated funds and assist in budget preparation and submission
- Ability to demonstrate training impact to key business partners by creating survey information and summary data
- Stay up to date with current market trends and the changing demands of the corporate sales environment
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure that training materials with clear instructions are published, printed, and within the required time frames.
- Serve as a learning consultant to leaders in all areas of business
- Assist with schedules and enrollment tracking, as required
- Coordinate attendance and certifications
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Need:
- 5+ years of sales/product experience in the electrical distribution industry or with specialty wire and cable and/or 5+ years of training development and delivery experience in a corporate environment
- Ability to conduct training including in-person and web-based setting
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Solution-orientated and strong analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience in the Electrical Distribution Industry
- A passport, or the ability to obtain one, to travel to Canada as needed
