We are looking for an R&D Scientist for a growing dairy company in Manhattan. This person would support the product development team in the development and scale-up of new formulas, and product changes. They would have the opportunity to take on projects from concept to commercialization. They would work very closely with the Innovation, Operation, Marketing and Quality team plus other partners.

Location: Onsite at Manhattan headquarters

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops, scales up, and commercializes food products with minimal supervision
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop specifications for new products based on critical sensory and nutritional attributes
  • Working and building/maintaining relationships with external resources including suppliers and co-manufacturers
  • Maintain good laboratory practices like record keeping, data analyzing, cleaning, and general maintenance
  • Uses a strong sensory skill and can identify and describe flavors in detail
  • Understands chemistry and microbiology and how they impact taste, texture, quality, and safety of food
  • Create benchtop/prototype samples and develop SOPs
  • Participates in taste tests of dairy products

Required Skills/Qualifications:  
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant product development, or R&D experience in a food company
  • Experience working in the CPG space
  • Process engineering and scale-up process experience
  • Laboratory and pilot plant experience preferred
  • BS or higher education required in food science or related field
  • Experience in fermentation
  • Has a strong sense of entrepreneurialism and gets excited about taking new responsibilities
