Senior Quality Assurance Analyst

We are looking to fill a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst position that will be responsible for the compliance of incoming cheese/dairy products and their perspective suppliers/copackers.
The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst will create, review, assess, and approve product specifications, at onboarding and on a continuous basis. This position works closely with the Purchasing Department and the Food Safety Auditor with the onboarding of new products, suppliers, & copackers and on a continuous basis. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Quality Supply.
This is a hybrid role position located in Chicago, IL with easy access to transit. Must come into the office 2-3 days a week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual complaints reporting.
- Create, review and update cheese and dairy specification documentation.
- Create and maintain product analytical criteria using industry standards.
- Support facilities and copackers in investigating product complaints to meet objectives.
- Investigate the root cause of issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor and follow up with manufacturing plants to ensure the full implementation of corrective actions
- Act as backup to the Food Safety Auditor in conducting audits using GFSI, HACCP & ISO 9001/22000 to assess food safety/quality risks & recommends mitigation strategies
- Review, approve, and file all product/supplier/copacker documentation according to Company practices
- Maintain the supplier approval program for cheese and dairy products
- Produce audit reports and distribute them internally in a timely manner (monthly, quarterly and annually)
- Maintain a close partnership with the Purchasing & Consumer Relations teams to facilitate communication with suppliers. Provide technical knowledge as needed.
- Appropriately alert senior managers on issues, and routinely seek advice on issue resolution.
- Travel up to 30% and/or extended/off-work hours
- Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, food science, dairy science, or life sciences is a required
- Experience in cheese manufacturing is required
- 3+ years of related experience, including active involvement in Quality Programs in a cheese manufacturing environment is required
- Strong understanding of cheese chemistry
- Knowledge of GFSI, HACCP, US food regulations
- Proficiency with data management portals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel
- Strong communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a changing, complex environment
- Ability to travel 30%
