Location: Onsite, Cambridge, MA
Mission
The R & D Associate II/III is responsible for supporting AGTC’s gene therapy research projects in alignment with the Company goals, working independently with minimal
supervision.
Reporting Relationship
• The R&D Associate II/III will report directly to the R&D Manager or designee
Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and qualify new assay methods, including in vitro and cell-based assays
• Design and construct plasmids and characterize them independently
• Plan, execute and troubleshoot routine assays, and procedures. Be able to teach and train others
• Collect, analyze, and summarize data in a timely manner
• Write and/or review SOPs, technical reports, study reports, intellectual properties, posters, and papers
• Maintain relevant laboratory supplies and equipment as needed
• Present scientific results at appropriate meetings and conferences
• Observe and comply with AGTC’s Employee manual and Safety and Quality manual
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, OSHA policies, and EPA standards

Educational Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in a Biology, Biochemistry, or relevant science major
• Master’s or PhD preferred in a Biology, Biochemistry or relevant science major
Additional Qualifications
• R&D II: two (2) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s, or PhD with no experience
• R&D III: five (5) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s with three (3) years’ experience or PhD with one (1) year experience
• Advanced proficiency in basic biological laboratory techniques, including cloning, PCR, bacterial & mammalian cell culture, transfection procedures required
• AAV transduction and immunoassays experience preferred
• Proven record of delivering high quality results against deadlines
• Good documentation practice
• Highly motivated with the ability to work as a team player, as well as independently
• Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding/working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and other routinely used scientific software programs.
