Sampled believes that as an organisation we have a duty to be actively engaged in supporting not just the clients and industries we serve but the communities where we live and work.POSITION SUMMARY:The Facilities Manager will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance throughout various laboratory and mechanical freezer/liquid nitrogen tank cold room storage environments. It will be critical to ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. With a team of technicians, responsible for ensuring adequate coverage is on site for maintenance activities, emergency response and third-party vendor schedules.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Maintain, repair and troubleshoot all aspects of facility equipment and machinery including: HVAC controls, BMS, electrical power distribution, metrology and electronics, hydraulic lifts, and gas piping and plumbing systems• Able to utilize hands-on knowledge and experience to solve problems in order to sustain minimal downtime of laboratory RO/DI water, Cold rooms, HVAC supply and liquid nitrogen delivery systems.• Conduct follow-through on repairs in a timely fashion and communicate effectively with leadership and team members.• Oversight of all general maintenance for various laboratory and storage locations including re-lamping & lighting systems, painting and wall repair, general maintenance activities and inspection of overall housekeeping and custodial activities• Partner with the Technical Services team in the installation of new equipment• Ensure all equipment inspections and preventative maintenance activities are scheduled and completed per SOP’s• Ensure all follow-up recommendations from third parties are completed in house or scheduled appropriately• Effectively prioritize and lead team tasks and oversight of third-party maintenance contracts and vendors (fire suppression, fire alarm and other specialty equipment)• Point out gaps and assist with recommendations for additional coverage or vendor expertise when needed• Prepare, monitor, and maintain an environment of continuous improvement through operational plans and training of team technicians• Build, manage, and motivate a strong, competent team by developing employees to their full potential and by creating a culture of quality and achievement.• Ensure team is working in accordance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance• Champion of the Sampled Values: Strive to delight our clients, Move innovation forward, Accelerate your business, Rise together as a team, Transcend what is possible.• Rotate on call schedule and perform other duties as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:• At least 2+ years of technical college or a 4-year degree, or equivalent experience• HVAC certifications preferred.• Highly self-motivated with previous maintenance experience, ideally holding a professional qualification in a mechanical or electrical field• Must have experience with HVAC, back-up generators, compressors• Must have experience with analytical laboratory equipment and laboratory gases• Minimum of 3+ years managerial experience in a technical environment• Specific areas should include either HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical/electronics• Computer software proficiency with MS office 365, Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, able to clearly and professionally convey issues / context to others.• Experience of utilizing and developing maintenance software for work orders, tasks, schedules, environmental monitoring, BMS (Building Management System HVAC), and oxygen sensors, familiar with a 21 CFR compliant work order system, for example Blue Mountain.• Proven ability to work on multiple projects and multi-task as necessary.• Team leader with a confident, assertive but approachable personality.OTHER:• While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods; use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; balance; reach, pull, push with hands and arms below head and frequently above head; ability to smell.• Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders• Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, lab coat, face masks) Occasionally a hard hat, appropriate steel toed footwear, ear plugs, etc• The individual is occasionally exposed to liquid nitrogen, fluorescent lamps/batteries; medical and hazardous waste; mechanical freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks.Sampled is an Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/Disabled/Veteran)
