La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring Staff Registered Nurses/(RN) for the inpatient unit in Chicago, IL. Day shifts are available, 7:00 am - 7:30 pm!

Job Summary:  

La Rabida is currently recruiting Staff Registered Nurses/(RN) to join our inpatient nursing department in Chicago, IL. We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma. Our nurses are focused on providing exceptional patient care to children while helping families face unique challenges. 

The Staff Registered Nurses will report to nursing leadership. The RN role focuses on developing skills to guide him/her over a continuum of basic patient care through more complex assignments and assessing the needs of chronically ill children using effective communication with patients, families, and team members. The RN uses the nursing process in a family-centered interdisciplinary context to coordinate care and achieve team goals and objectives. 

 

Essential Staff Registered Nurse Functions:

  • Complete and document initial and ongoing assessments   

  • Carry out interventions and evaluate them against desired goals 

  • Demonstrate Unit specific skills and competencies 

  • Follow chain of command for problem resolution  

  • Provide patient/family education  

  • Delegate patient care tasks to other members of the team 

  • Approach the care of your patients with a family-centered lens 

  • Work daily to help raise possibilities for our patients 

  • Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes
  • Practice service excellence behaviors
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Promote collaboration among healthcare team members.  

 

What we need from you:  

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • State of Illinois nursing license required
  • CPR required: Only those certifications from The American Heart Association or The American Red Cross will be accepted
  • New graduates welcome to apply
  • Pediatric experience preferred
