Environmental Health & Safety Manager
We are working with a nationwide dairy manufacturer/processor that is looking for a strong EHS leader for one of their facilities in Western Kansas. This is a growth opportunity to be a key member of the plant leadership team. This role will be responsible for managing the EHS functions of the plant. While having the autonomy to implement site environmental safety policies that adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities:- A key member of the plant leadership team. Provides leadership in areas of plant safety and ensures execution of plant safety programs while actively assessing plant compliance with safety programs
- Support the environmental, health and safety committee standard to promote consistency and clarity for the plant in establishing the committee by ensuring monthly meetings are held. Act as EHS Committee chairperson or designate a chairperson
- Manage audiometric testing and hearing conservation programs inclusive of noise surveys
- Manages plant personal protective equipment, work clothing and safety equipment programs according to company standards and operating budget. Manages the respiratory protection program, including quantitative fit testing, respirator distribution and pulmonary function testing
- Develops and implements plant programs for the identification, prevention, and control of occupational injuries
- Maintains current awareness of federal, state, and local health, industrial hygiene, and safety regulations
- Maintains an accurate OSHA log. Accompanies visiting inspectors
- Administers the plant hazard communication program
- Reviews all manufacturing and support operations to assure ongoing safety. Assists the line organization in developing job safety analyses and safe operating procedures for all tasks and in investigating incidents.
- Develops and implements audit programs to review and assure compliance with applicable health and safety standards
- Reviews and manages site safety audit and observation programs
- Assists plant management in investigating workplace incidents, determine root cause, and develop corrective actions
- Acts as a key member of the leadership management team
- Administers plant regulatory programs, including waste management, regulatory permit compliance (air, storm water, wastewater) etc.
- Site liaison with corporate offices on environmental and legal concerns
- Site owner of regulatory permit completion/submissions
- Demonstrates business acumen
Required Skills/Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health is desired
- Background in food manufacturing or related field to food manufacturing
- 4+ years of direct experience in Environmental roles: Implementing and reviewing/auditing environmental management systems in a manufacturing setting
- Previous leadership experience in a project management setting or direct reports is needed
