Job Summary:
The Permitting Specialist will research and prepare documentation for required permits, right of ways, easements, and land use for building and executing large scale infrastructure programs and projects. Working with multiple contacts, the permitting specialist is responsible for submitting complete, correct and compliant information to project and construction management teams, municipalities and contractors within timeframes assigned.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Work with Project Coordinators to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all permit applications.
Research and document permit requirements for the city, agency, or customer for whom the work is being performed.
Practice strong understanding of permit application process and workflow to complete projects in a timely manner: secure permits on schedule, track permit status, and resolve issues preventing approval.
Work with Permit Coordinators to ensure progress is tracked and permit information is updated in Congruex systems.
Establish and maintain relationships with permitting entities from city planners to permit desk administration personnel.
Navigate the permitting process as assigned with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Permit Applications
Learn and employ the permit application process for various permitting agencies.
Complete permit applications.
Conduct cursory reviews of permit plans for completeness and conformance to permitting agency requirements.
Tracking and Reporting
Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing information from spreadsheets and take the initiative to contact other personnel for necessary missing information.
Draft correspondence and documents for use by internal teams and permitting agencies.
Administration
Combine, convert, and upload image and PDF files into internal and external database systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications: General
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1+ years of permitting experience.
Experience in a wireline, wireless or telecom engineering/construction setting strongly preferred.
Ability to learn new systems and databases quickly.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills, with willingness to talk to municipal government staff.
Critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems.
Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-pacedenvironment.
Superior time management skills.
Highlyorganized with strong attention to detail especially in regard to reporting and auditing data.
Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.
Superior customer service; dedication to providing customers “White Glove Service”.
Technical
Intermediate experience with Microsoft office, including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and GIS systems
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in: geography/GIS, urban planning, public administration, business or related field preferred
Strong telecommunications industry knowledge
Travel
May be required at times for training purposes.
