Position Description
National Grid Renewables is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the controllership team to assist with the coordination and preparation of all external reporting across National Grid Renewables and implementation of controls over financial reporting processes.  This individual will work to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and quality of overall accounting function across multiple entities through assisting with the coordination, preparation and consolidation of financial and management reports under both US GAAP and IFRS. The individual will also work closely with the parent company, National Grid US, Core Finance to ensure orderly/timely reporting of both US GAAP and IFRS results on a monthly basis.  This individual will report directly to the Assistant Controller and will be a key player in driving process improvement and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements and requests from investors and other stakeholders.

duties
  • General Ledger/Reporting
    • Complete general ledger ownership for the group entities, including month-end close, GL integrity, trial balance reconciliation, and management of intercompany transactions
    • Partner with third party consultants to ensure completeness of Blocker entities’ financial data
    • Work with internal and external tax personnel to ensure tax compliance
    • Assist in production of technical accounting memos and adoption of new accounting standards
    • Produce and present timely financial reports in both US GAAP and IFRS
    • Prepare and present monthly reporting packages and provide analysis to aid in management decisions
    • Ensure purchasing processes and control procedures are followed through review and approval of project purchase orders, bills, and vendor payments
    • Collaborate with several departments including construction, operations, real estate, and finance
 
  • Audits
    • Gathers information necessary for auditors to perform their audit and provides organizational context to auditors
    • Ensures timely submission of requested audit deliverables
    • Guides audit process to ensure timeliness of final reports
    • Distributes audit reports to internal and external stakeholders as needed

Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • IFRS knowledge/experience preferred but not required
  • A minimum of three years of direct experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong general ledger accounting skills
  • Experience in renewable energy operations preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • NetSuite experience preferred
