Employment Status: Full-time, Non-exempt (hourly)

Job Summary: 

 

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards. The Fiber Optic Construction Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of fiber optic projects, meeting deadlines, and achieving business objectives. 

 

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to): 

 

  • Supervise Fiber Optic Construction Crews: Oversee and lead construction crews involved in fiber optic installation and maintenance projects. Drive crews to achieve production and quality targets while ensuring timely completion of tasks.  Review and approve daily time cards. 

 

  • Documentation Management: Hold crews accountable for accurately documenting completed work in real-time, including project progress, materials used, and any relevant updates in the database or project management systems. 

 

  • Database and Systems Management: Update and maintain databases and systems used for tracking production, profitability, and project progress. Ensure that all relevant data is entered accurately and on time. 

 

  • Project Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates on project schedules, database changes, and job progress to the project manager. Keep the manager informed of any challenges or issues that may impact costs or schedules. 

 

  • Quality Control and Assurance: Manage compliance with established quality control standards and specifications for fiber optic installations. Ensure that work meets industry and company standards for performance and reliability. 

 

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations on job sites at all times. Implement safety protocols to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment for all crew members. Comply with state, federal, OSHA, and HHS safety policies.  

 

  • Equipment and Material Inspection: Manage crew's weekly assets and ensure daily DOT inspections are complete in the field app. Perform inspections of equipment, materials, and work sites to ensure that they meet the required standards and are suitable for the project's needs.   

 

  • Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination: Attend regular meetings with vendors, managers, and other stakeholders involved in the project. Collaborate with them to address any issues, ensure smooth project execution, and maintain effective communication. 

 

  • Multi-Site Supervision: Travel to and supervise multiple job sites throughout the day. Efficiently manage resources and coordinate crews to meet project timelines and objectives. 

 

  • Troubleshooting Fiber Networks: Utilize technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic networks. Identify and address network disruptions and ensure proper functionality. 

 

  • Resource Management: Optimize the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient project execution and cost-effectiveness. 

 

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for process improvement, cost optimization, and enhanced productivity. Implement strategies to enhance the overall efficiency and profitability of fiber optic construction projects. 

 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

General 

  • Experience in Aerial and Underground Telecommunications Fiber Optic Splicing and Testing.  Fiber to the home experience is plus. 

  • Experience in construction quality management and assurance 

  • Excellent organization and planning skills 

  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record  

  • Pass DOT Physical 

  • Physical requirements:  

  • Ability to stand, stoop, squat and bend for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long distances 

  • Ability to navigate through potential uneven walkways/terrain 

  • Tolerant to extreme elements (heat, sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.) 

  • Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses OK) 

  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to lift 10lbs minimum, and potentially up to 50lbs 

 

 

 

 

Technical 

  • Skilled in interpreting telecommunications construction drawings in hard copy and digital format 

  • Experienced in providing redline updates to construction plans  

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 

  • GIS experience is a plus  

 

 

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Experience working as a technical construction supervisor 

  • Proven understanding of compliance and quality assurance guidelines and best practices
