Senior Materials Accountant – Shoals Technologies Group

Location: Portland, TN

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare excess and obsolete inventory analysis and suggested inventory usage strategy to minimize scrap inventory
  • Perform min/max inventory level review and provide suggestions for adjustment to align with company inventory level goals
  • Work with the operations team to help determine material needs for projects and oversee their procurement, as well as serve as a key connection between accounting and operations
  • Develop, revise, and maintain divisional procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
  • Ensure that best practice processes and procedures are in place to maintain the appropriate inventory levels for all areas
  • Work with warehouse team on annual and perpetual inventory counts (cycle counts)
  • Research any anomalies related to COGS
  • Maintain support for freight costs and the impact on COGS
  • Perform results analysis related to product cost and product revenue.
  • Review product cost lines, relate with business key indicators and provide cost variance analysis, highlighting opportunities or negative trends.
  • Assist with the monthly close process, especially with regard to entries impacting COGS
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for relevant accounts, investigate and resolve issues, and certify completeness.
  • Assist in various training and orientation programs
  • Perform special projects as assigned
  • Understand and comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and Inventory Policies and Guidelines
  • Preparing Supporting documentation for Financial Statements in line with GAAP to a standard ready for external audit

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Accounting or engineering degree or equivalent professional certification such as CPA, CMA, and etc. (or individuals who are candidates for those professional certifications)
  • 3 years of experience in a financial, inventory or manufacturing engineering role
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills, experience required
  • Self-starter, with ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, willing to learn new skills
  • Excellent business logic, problem solver
  • Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, good business intuition
  • Strong team player
  • Great communication skills
