Summary:
Lead the engineering group that designs, develops and tests photovoltaic and Electric Vehicle Support Systems and/or associated components focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability. Set priorities, allocate resources and schedule the workload of engineering and laboratory projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Set priorities and allocate resources.
  • Determine project schedules and track progress.
  • Work with direct reports to determine goals based on company strategy and direction.
  • Perform performance evaluations per company policy and direction.
  • Initiate continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations to determine wire sizing, resistance and current flow as it pertains to photovoltaic systems and EV charging components.  
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations for AC power systems.
  • Determine financial impact of new product design.
  • Work with testing agencies to insure timely certification of products.
  • Travel to jobsites to evaluate installations and provide installation and warranty guidance.
  • Perform all duties as designated by the engineering manager.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, MS preferred (a combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree).
  • 7 or more years of experience working as a design engineer.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of CAD design software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of UL/NEC standards and requirements.
