The primary function of the surgical technologist is the "scrub technologist" in the surgical suite. The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for the provision of patient care to meet identified patient outcomes, and to achieve the goals of the facility as direct by the Registered Nurse. The ST performs duties according to scope of practice designated by the facility position description, role and responsibilities and according to the surgical technician professional organization. The surgical technologist may be assigned other functions as deemed necessary.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prefer one-year experience as a surgical technologist. Works with complex monitoring and life- saving equipment. Performs in assigned areas. Reads, writes, and speaks English. Practices knowledge of Standard Precautions. Position involves skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific physiological/psychosocial/ developmental/ spiritual needs of patients typically served. Demonstrates self-directed learning and achievement of assigned clinical area objectives.Tolerates long hours and work variable shift. Requires extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, transferring of anesthetized patients, and pushing heavy equipment and patients. Requires manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and visual and auditory acuity.Required Licenses and Certifications

Qualifications:
The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
Education and Formal Training:
Requires high school graduate or equivalent and prefer employee who has completed Surgical Technologist Course from an Accredited CAHEA Program. Experience in lieu of formal training will be considered.
Work Experience:
Prefer one-year experience as a surgical technologist.
