Software Engineer/ Developer
 Job Summary
The Software Engineer/Developer is an integral part of Extracts business. The applicant will be responsible for helping develop automated tests, one off tests and customized software for the company at large using LabVIEW. This will require the use of various lab and industrial equipment. Involvement begins at helping the engineering and software team define instrumentation needs, system requirements and continues through system/software verification and initial testing. The Software Engineer/Developer will ensure that high quality software is developed, tested, and delivered on time.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW programming language and development environment.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Experience in developing LabVIEW applications for data acquisition, control systems, and automation.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces, such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with instrument control, signal processing, and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware integration issues.
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality and reliable software solutions.

     
Preferred skills
  • Experience with programming languages like Test Stand, and Visual Basic.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programming concepts like While loops, for loops, variables ect.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components and circuitry.
  • Travelling will be required.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiar with test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, DMMs, etc.). 
  • Experience with CAD software SketchUp, SOLIDWORKS.
  • Hands-on testing and debugging complex systems in a lab/test facility environment.
  • Requires a willingness to work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines, if necessary.
