Our field engineers perform a variety of tasks including field verification and data collection of existing underground and aerial utilities, creating utility mapping using electromagnetic locators, GPS receivers, mapping software, working with our civil engineers and CAD teams on client deliverables. You will have the opportunity to perform all levels of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and utility designation work for small and large civil projects in accordance with ASCE 38-22, Common Ground Alliance Best Practices, state, and local requirements. Your work will take you around the state where you will be using computers and mobile devices to review plans and outside plant (OSP) utility records, accessing all manner of electronics cabinets, pedestals, pull boxes, buildings, and underground utility vaults, collecting valuable information that will help us and our clients make critical decisions about their facilities.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
Recording field locates with GNSS RTK GPS receivers.
Locating buried or hidden access points with metal detectors
85% field work, 15% office work
Primary areas of responsibility are Miami Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties
Operating motor vehicles, driving for extended periods.
Working outdoors in all types of weather
Working in the public right of way under variable traffic conditions
Wearing personal protective equipment
Accessing underground vaults utilizing confined space safety training and equipment
Perform repetitive physical tasks such as climbing ladders, stooping, bending crawling, and walking long distances in all types of terrain for extended periods.
Operate gas- and diesel-powered pumps and electric blowers.
Working on a computer, tablet, or other mobile devices
Operating basic power and hand tools
Weekend and night work may be required.
Analyzing utility records, cable maps, and plans
Utilize specialty tools to safely remove and open lids and covers from utility vaults and access points.
Photograph facilities and take comprehensive field notes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Must have a valid Driver’s License
2-5 years of recent experience using electromagnetic pipe and cable locators
Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
Basic math skills to record field measurements.
Must be familiar with and have a basic working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Must have basic experience using cloud-based platforms to manage projects, upload, and download data.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and MVR screening.
Must be able to travel within the state of Florida and stay overnight with limited notice.
Must be able travel out of state if needed.
Must be able to walk long distances while carrying 10 to 20 pounds for extended periods.
Must be comfortable accessing and working in underground confined spaces
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Understanding of telecommunications network design
Knowledge of AT&T’s wireline outside plant (OSP) facilities and records systems
Experience in telecommunications OSP engineering design and practices
Experience in all levels of utility designation
Experience in surveying and GIS data capture
