Description
This is a remote field position focused on supporting our WV territory. The role will involve spending some time in our WV offices and the remaining time on job sites across the state. The Field Engineer/Inspector II reviews work at project sites to ensure work at existing and previous job sites is completed safely and efficiently. This position requires inspection of the installation of telecommunication practices. The Field Engineer/Inspector II is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance of Outside Plant construction, Splicing and Systems project specifications. 


Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Lead, ensure and maintain adherence to health and safety regulations to aid in reduction of safety issues, at all times.
  • Manage and inspect fiber optic cable placement, fiber drop installations and associate construction activities for an assigned OSP project.
  • Manage and ensure compliance of:
    • Outside Plant construction project specifications. 
    • Fiber and Fiber Splicing and troubleshooting
  • Monitor and report on aerial and underground fiber optic construction crew progress and quality of installation.
  • Investigate planned pathways in front of crews to identify and mitigate roadblocks.
  • Ensure all permits are in hand prior to any work being done; and that work is
performed in accordance with permit requirements.
  • Work transparently and proactively to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Drive results through transparency in project progress.
  • Confirm locates are completed and current, prior to construction.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspection of job sites, work progress, work completed, construction crews, and subcontractors and coordinate with Construction Manager to complete as-builts (Inspect, Validate and Verify).
  • Conduct equipment, material, and routine site inspections and complete appropriate forms to ensure compliance.
  • Verify Contractor's work is adequately performed and follows current utility standards.
  • Perform equipment, material, and routine site inspections and complete appropriate forms to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct new substructure site surveys and site walks.
  • Maintain utility required documents.
  • Understand prints and project cutsheets.
  • Interpret contract documents, as necessary, to assist with compliance with the terms of the construction contract.
  • Assist in the preparation of red line prints and as-builts.
  • Identify needed corrections for construction drawings where inspection has been observed and record the ‘as-built’ for all aerial, underground projects, splicing, and systems projects providing details requested by customer.
    • Maintain corrections of these documents and keep current.
  • Communicate regularly with Construction Coordinator and Construction Manager regarding problems or issues impacting production.
  • Report daily on production capturing quantities for work performed.
  • May be involved in site evaluation for bidding purposes.
  • Open hand holes to inspect facilities (substructure conditions, fiber placement, and condition).
  • Effectively account for all information that is required to attach to a pole and complete all necessary measurements and photos.
  • Identify, meet and/or exceed client expectations within defined parameters related to delivery of services, quality, revenue, and sales goals.
  • Represent Congruex and Client in a professional manner, fostering a healthy workplace environment on all aspects of the jobsite.
  • Travel to and supervise multiple job sites during the course of a day.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
General
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.

    • At times may be required to interact with customers and landowners representing Gudenkauf.
  • Extended travel may be required, on occasion (out of market).
  • Must be able to work long hours (overtime), weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background screen including an acceptable motor vehicle report.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Ability to stand, stoop, squat, and bend for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long distances.
    • Ability to navigate through potential uneven walkways/terrain.
    • Ability to work and tolerate extreme elements (heat, cold, sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Technical
  • 1- 3 years telecommunications/utilities construction experience.
  • Understands Aerial and Underground, Splicing and/or Systems telecommunications construction methods and specifications.
  • Certification and knowledge of Trench safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret telecommunications construction drawings in hard copy and digital.
  • Experience in construction quality management and assurance.
  • Ability to identify, read and redline construction prints.
  • Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.
  • Proven understanding of compliance and quality assurance guidelines and best practices.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a technical construction supervisor.
  • Experience in construction quality management and assurance.
  • Experienced in providing redline updates to construction plans.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • CDL Driver is a plus.
