​​​​​​Become a key player as a Senior Android Engineer:
NextDeavor is seeking an Android software engineer with experience to contribute to the development, certification, and operation of intricate payment systems. These systems facilitate the processing of a substantial volume of transactions daily through cloud infrastructure using smart payment terminals. The ideal candidate is pragmatic in managing priorities and thrives in an iterative work model characterized by frequent specification changes. The company deploys improvements and features every two weeks, with the possibility of occasional hotfixes.


Here’s how you’ll make an impact on the team:
  • Incorporate additional payment features into our existing products, including dynamic currency conversion, offline payment support, Android Pay, Apple Pay, and mobile wallets
  • Design and implement Android applications and services to ensure an exceptional payment flow experience for customers
  • Address troubleshooting issues that may arise across a diverse range of device types
  • Assume responsibility for specific payment components within the system
  • Collaborate with international certification teams and test organizations
  • Work alongside product management to clarify and/or establish specifications
  • Prioritize and resolve bugs related to payment applications and associated infrastructure
  • Provide production support services as part of a regular on-call rotation
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or another engineering discipline, or possess equivalent work experience
  • Proficient application coding skills in Android using Kotlin
  • UI development, ensuring optimal performance and adapting to various screen sizes
  • Android expertise, including understanding the platform, with experience in Android ROM as a plus
  • Stay current with the latest trends in Android application development
  • Knowledgeable about 3rd party libraries for Android
  • Familiarity with databases and schema design
  • Capable of self-managing multiple high-priority projects and collaborating on complex, distributed systems
  • Handle pressure to meet external standards and strict deadlines
  • Effective communication skills, teamwork, and keen attention to detail
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and critical reasoning abilities
Here’s what else might help you out:
  • Experience with server technologies, REST web services, SOA, Familiarity with databases and schema design (we use primarily MySQL)
  • RXJava, functional programming, MVVM/Clean architecture design patterns
  • React Native, javascript
  • iOS and/or other previous mobile development experience
  • Test driven development methodology
  • UI Automator/Espresso
  • Embedded/MCU/ARM Cortex development, RTOS, C language experience
  • Previous experience in payments industry, specifically working with EMVco or exposure to PCI/PTS standards is a plus

Pay Range:
$112,900.00 - $192,000.00/annually
