Description
The Lactation Network is hiring a Systems Reliability Engineer. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the software development process, particularly regarding the robustness, reliability, and performance of systems across the organization. The Systems Reliability Engineer will report to the Lead Architect and work alongside a team of technical professionals.
 
TLN’s vision is to build enterprise-wide systems that serve both our customers as well as our internal users. The Systems Reliability Engineer will play a substantial role in the future of our organization. Along with maintaining the day-to-day functionality of our systems, you’ll have a big influence in developing and improving our systems. You will be a key driver in the design and implementation of new features and systems within our company.

Breakdown of the role
With your deep knowledge and understanding of systems reliability, you’ll work with our technical teams to design and implement features and processes to support the reliability and robustness of our systems. 
  • System Reliability and Robustness (50%) - Ensure that all software systems are robust, resilient, and capable of meeting high availability standards. Implement and maintain systems designed to prevent and mitigate outages. Continuously monitor system performance, anticipate potential issues, and proactively address them. Utilize monitoring tools to track system health and performance metrics. Analyze system failures and inefficiencies and recommend solutions for continuous improvement. Collaborate with software development teams to implement resilience features in software architecture.
  • Incident Response (20%) - Lead and participate in incident response efforts, ensuring rapid recovery from incidents. Develop and refine incident management processes.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning (20%) - Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies and plans. Conduct regular tests to ensure systems can be restored quickly and effectively after a disruption.
  • Capacity Planning (10%) - Monitor and manage system capacity to ensure scalability and reliability. Predict future system needs based on growth trends and plan accordingly.

What we’d love to see
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Reliability Engineer/Software Engineer with experience in the reliability domain
  • Experience working with either AWS or Azure
  • Experience with C# and Node.js
  • Advanced understanding of common resiliency approaches and tools
  • A strong Agile mindset.
