The Representative Payee Case Manager at Compass of Carolina plays a crucial role in assisting individuals who require financial management support.  The ideal candidate will have good communication skills with clients and co-workers.   He/She will take a client-centered approach toward assisting vulnerable individuals with managing their needs.  The position requires good budgeting and case management skills to ensure that their overall well-being is met.  The position is a crucial member of our team, as Compass of Carolina works to integrate the Representative Payee department with our Family Violence intervention programming.  

Here are the key responsibilities associated with this position:

  1. Client Assessment and Eligibility Determination:

    • The case manager evaluates clients’ eligibility for representative payee services. This involves assessing their financial needs, understanding their circumstances, and identifying whether they require assistance managing their funds.
  2. Social Security and Benefits Coordination:

    • The representative payee case manager collaborates with clients who receive Social Security benefits, disability insurance, or supplemental security income.
    • They ensure that clients receive their entitled benefits promptly and accurately.
    • Coordination involves maintaining communication with Social Security offices, providing necessary documentation, and addressing any issues related to benefits.
  3. Financial Management:

    • Managing clients’ finances is a critical aspect of the role.
    • The case manager receives clients’ benefit payments, allocates funds for essential expenses (such as housing, utilities, and food), and ensures bills are paid on time.
    • They maintain accurate records of financial transactions and budgeting.
  4. Client Advocacy and Support:

    • The case manager advocates for clients’ rights and well-being.
    • They address any concerns related to benefits, housing, or other essential services.
    • Advocacy may involve liaising with landlords, utility companies, and healthcare providers on behalf of clients.
  5. Budgeting and Financial Counseling:
