Job Description
esVolta seeks a motivated and energetic candidate to join our team as a Manager, Portfolio Management to lead its compliance team and manage all obligations established in project financing and tax equity transactions, as well as manage investor relations with lenders/Tax equity providers.   Manager, Portfolio Management will report to VP, Structured Finance.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of Project Financings as well as Tax Equity transactions for battery storage projects.
  • Review project financial documents, prepare financing summary, follow reporting requirements under the financing documents.
  • Ensure consistency, quality control and best practices for portfolio compliance management.
  • Create and oversee payments and distributions in accordance with tax equity and debt transactions - project distributions, loan repayment, interest, timelines, and calculations.
  • Maintain standard set of guidelines, including developing and maintaining standard operating procedures that apply to multiple groups in organization supporting financing compliance.
  • Grow and develop the compliance team, including recruiting, mentoring, training and managing performance.
  • Work with Treasury and Accounting teams to ensure all fees are calculated and paid according to project finance and tax equity documents.
  • Work closely with Legal department to ensure agreement and understanding of all compliance obligations.
  • Lead cross-departmental collaboration to ensure disciplined and accurate project reporting as it relates to compliance with tax equity and debt financing transactions, and to develop and maintain data-driven support for all key obligations.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to calculate project distributions, run models and present details to lead investors/lenders.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to determine impact of key operational and financial variables on portfolio performance.
  • Present details to the Management Committee and the Board to support high-quality decision-making processes and complete understanding of the obligations.
  • Represent esVolta and act as point of contact for all tax equity investors/lenders as well as for internal stakeholders.

 
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance required. MBA or CFA strongly desired.
  • 10+ years of experience in project finance, tax equity, loan compliance and/or portfolio management.
  • Ability to manage data rooms, compliance calendar, and understand complex commercial structures of various financings.
  • Leadership experience in successfully recruiting, growing, developing, and managing a team of financial professionals to excellence.
  • Experience in management of compliance obligations related to project financing and tax equity transactions.
  • Renewable energy and/or energy storage experience is strongly preferred.
  • A thorough understanding of project financing, ideally with tax equity experience, including expertise and understanding of relevant tax and GAAP regulations, contractual matters, and analytical models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional environment, including managing the financial, legal, and internal review and approval processes necessary to successfully manage complex compliance obligations.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail and accountability, and an ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
 
Compensation
The annual salary plus bonus range for this position is listed below. The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
 
Manager, Portfolio Management Salary $120,000 - $140,000 Bonus 20%-25%
 
Location
  • Flexible, option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from corporate office in Newport Beach.
  • Requires ability to travel to company offices, project sites and business meetings as needed.
