Position Description
National Grid Renewables is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee, perform and improve all operating asset accounting functions related to our solar and wind projects.  This individual will work to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and quality of overall accounting functions with respect to the company’s operating assets.  The Senior Accountant will support the company’s growth and business objectives by providing operational financial analysis, compiling and producing financial performance information, aiding in the preparation and delivery of high-level presentations, and providing financial visibility to management across all operations departments.  This individual will report directly to the Accounting Manager of Operating Assets and will be a key player in driving process improvement and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements and requests from investors and other stakeholders.

duties
  • General Ledger/Reporting
    • Complete general ledger ownership for operating entities, including month-end close, GL integrity, trial balance reconciliation, etc.
    • Partner with operations colleagues to stay informed on current and upcoming project expenses; identify and book accruals as needed
    • Produce and present timely financial reports
    • Analyze financial data to identify and report on trends and key performance indicators
    • Responsible for production and presentation of timely and accurate monthly reporting packages and supplementary information
    • Collaborate with several departments including asset management, operations, real estate, and finance
    • Ensure purchasing processes and control procedures are followed through review and approval of project purchase orders, bills, and vendor payments
 
  • Audits
    • Gathers information necessary for auditors to perform their audit and provides organizational context to auditors
    • Ensures timely submission of requested audit deliverables
    • Guides audit process to ensure timeliness of final reports
    • Distributes audit reports to internal and external stakeholders as needed
 
  • Budgeting
    • Works closely with the asset management and operations team leads to collaborate on budget strategy and provide relevant spend information
    • Partner with asset management and operations leadership to align budget/spend with core company goals

Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • A minimum of two years of direct experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong general ledger accounting skills
  • Experience in renewable energy operations preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • NetSuite experience preferred
  • Attention to detail

Compensation
