Job Title: Project Engineer I 

Department: Engineering 

Reports To: Program Manager or Director or Senior Project Engineer II 

Employment Status: Non-exempt, Hourly 

Job Summary: 

The position of Project Engineer I will independently evaluate and adapt standard techniques, apply broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area, function on multidisciplinary teams, as well as plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work. 

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to): 

  • ​​​​​​Support Project Managers and Directors in new project setup. 
  • Support Project Managers and Directors by reviewing field notes.  
  • Redline designs 
  • Obtaining and utilizing CAD base files for utility permit plans and submittals. 
  • Quality control of permit plans and design work completed by others. 
  • Prepare material reports, quantity take-offs and construction contracts. 
  • Support Project Managers and Directors in project permitting.  
  • Update necessary tracking system(s) to ensure project and/or program status is maintained with complete accuracy, including third party management systems. 
  • Create and distribute correspondence relevant to the team or project. 
  • Communicate all issues to management prior to reaching critical status. 
  • Develop and maintain accurate and complete files for projects, monitoring for integrity and completeness. 
  • Provide additional administrative support as required. 
  • Assist with project documentation. 
  • Other relevant duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

   General 

  • High school or equivalent education 
  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Subject to pre-employment drug test and MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) Report. 
  • Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with peers, leadership, and clients. 
  • Function effectively as an integral part of a team. 
  • Self-motivated with superior time management. 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented. 
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Critical thinking skills: make assessments and provide solutions to problems.  
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the position. 
  • Superior customer service 

   Technical 

  • 0 - 2 years’ experience in either engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications industries. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft® Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics or 2 - 4 Years relevant equivalent experience. 
  • Sitetracker experience.  
  • AutoCAD or MicroStation 
  • Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Openroads, or equivalent experience.
