The Senior Teaching and Learning Manager leads a team of Lead Instructors, Instructors, and Teaching Assistants and supports the instructional design and delivery for TKH’s Innovation Fellowship. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Teaching and Learning Manager will directly supervise one Lead Instructor per program track: Data Science with Python, Web Development, and Cybersecurity. Depending on the track enrollment size, Lead Instructors will manage one or more Teaching Assistants plus additional Instructors for their track, when relevant. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality, engaging instruction that meets TKH’s standards, supports curriculum development, and aligns training with industry trends.
The ideal candidate will be a mission-driven leader with expertise in teaching and curriculum design, strong organizational skills, and a passion for equitable access to technology education. This role requires collaborative leadership, team-building skills, and the ability to manage a dynamic instructional team.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Team Management (60%)- Supervise and mentor 3+ Lead Instructors, their Instructors and TAs, prioritizing instructional quality, classroom management, and professional growth across all tracks.
- Facilitate weekly meetings with Lead Instructors to address instructional challenges, review student feedback, and ensure alignment with program goals and expectations.
- Monitor instructional performance through regular classroom observations, providing actionable feedback and coaching to instructors and TAs for continuous improvement.
- Oversee the onboarding and training of instructional staff, equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
- Partner with the Curriculum Manager to ensure instructional staff understand and effectively deliver standardized curriculum while focusing on inclusive and engaging teaching practices.
- Support the instructional team by coordinating resources, addressing performance concerns, and fostering a collaborative and supportive teaching environment.
- Lead the development and execution of professional development initiatives that enhance teaching skills, student engagement strategies, and classroom management.
Program Coordination and Innovation (20%)- Partner with Program Leadership, the Curriculum Manager, and other key stakeholders to set goals and ensure the effective execution of the program.
- Track and analyze data on student performance, program completion, student sentiment, and job placement outcomes to drive continuous improvements in curriculum and instruction.
- Maintain organized records on curriculum updates, instructional progress, and program engagement metrics to inform reporting and strategic planning.
- Lead the T&L team in building relationships with guest speakers and industry partners, enhancing program delivery and providing students with valuable industry insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to assess and improve overall program effectiveness, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and student needs.
Professional Development and Team Building (10%)- Design and facilitate professional development sessions for Lead Instructors and TAs, focusing on pedagogy, student engagement, and tech trends.
- Organize team-building activities that foster a supportive, collaborative culture within the instructional team.
- Stay updated on best practices in education and technology to keep TKH’s programs innovative and responsive to student needs.
Curriculum Development and Alignment (10%)- Support Curriculum Manger with curriculum development for Innovation Fellowship tracks, ensuring alignment with industry standards and partner feedback.
- Collaborate with instructors to design and refine syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and practical projects that meet diverse learning needs.
Qualifications
Experience- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. 4+ years of experience in STEM or tech instruction, ideally with a focus on underserved communities.
- Teaching and Curriculum Design: Strong track record in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional delivery, particularly in tech-focused subjects.
- Leadership and Team Management: 2+ years of experience managing instructional teams, providing mentorship, and leading professional development.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Skills (Prefered): Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred) and familiarity with LMS platforms, online teaching tools, and project management software.
- Computer proficiency, including Google Suite
- Superb written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to conduct and coordinate multiple tasks and projects under pressure and meet deadlines;

Compensation and Benefits- $83,000 -$110,000 per year

All full-time staff are expected to come into a TKH office or the field (community and industry events, including conferences or travel for work) 1-2 days per week, and the Leadership Team will be encouraged to come into a TKH office at least two times per week. There will be one consistent team day a week that will vary by team. Please note that there are some roles that may require being on-site more based on the job responsibilities.
In addition to the 1 team day, there will be weeks when the expectation is 2 days/week based on required meetings. These may include all staff meetings, department stepbacks, professional development, retreats, events, or other purposeful reasons, as requested by your supervisor or team lead.
