Job Title: Lead Teacher
Department: Family Services
Location: Riverside
Reports To: Assistant Program Director    
FLSA Status: Exempt  
Salary Range Starting at $68,640

Position Summary: Facilitates UC’s success and growth in academic and people skills through implementing ORR approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to ORR and management regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with age level goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experience to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including student with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current development in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, and achievements.
  • Selects any requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in education or related major; teaching certificate; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Bilingual in Spanish required.
Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

Mathematical Ability:
Comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, algebra and advanced statistical theory. Work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

Reasoning Ability:
Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with nonverbal symbolism (e.g., formulas and equations) in difficult phases. Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Supervise, coaches, and mentors staff providing guidance to their work and learning including,
when necessary, corrective/disciplinary action in a timely and professional manner.
