Overview
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a significant growth enabler for a diversity of organizations – providing enhanced capabilities, business innovations, and strategic advantages. Robust and reliable machine learning (ML) operations (MLOps) models and processes are paramount to the development of safe, secure, and trustworthy AI technologies. Over the past 3 years, Lockheed Martin's Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) has developed an industry leading AI/MLOps capability (AI Factory) as well as Generative AI solutions aimed at improving company operations, enabling complex defense systems, and serving our customers' most challenging AI missions.
Lockheed Martin has launched Astris AI, an AI/ML strategic project, under the management of LMEvolve, a Lockheed Martin corporate initiative to leverage key Lockheed Martin competencies for dual use in collaboration with commercial partners and in support of critical customer missions.
Job Description
The Strategic Solutions Architect will serve as a technical expert for our sales team. They will provide advanced technical support and guidance, ensuring clients receive the best AI solutions tailored to their needs. This individual will be an expert in various AI technologies, including Generative AI, AI/ML platforms for engineers, and consulting/professional services. The Strategic Solutions Architect will need to communicate complex technical concepts effectively with CIOs, CTOs, and individual technical professionals within client environments to execute sales and drive growth.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a technical expert for the Astris AI sales team, providing advanced technical support and guidance, and as the key interface between the sales and technology organizations

Translate client business challenges into technical solutions via system architecture design

Participate in client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions to support sales efforts

Collaborate with the sales team to understand client needs and develop tailored AI solutions

Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to CIOs, CTOs, and individual technical professionals within client environments

Conduct product and capability demonstrations plus technical presentations to clients

Assist in preparing technical proposals and documentation

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI technologies and integrate them into client solutions

Relay client feedback to the technical teams based on customer interactions and market trends

Support post-sales and sustainment activities, including solution implementation and troubleshooting

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Leader, or similar technical or engineering role

Proficiency in enterprise (cloud) architectures

Deep understanding of with Generative AI, AI platforms for engineers, and consulting/professional services

Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Experience working with CIOs, CTOs, and individual technical professionals within client environments

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail

Willingness to travel as needed
Desired Skills

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Experience with generative AI (genAI), automation, or machine learning (ML) models
-
Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, and software development methodologies
-
Knowledge of AI hardware accelerators, edge computing hardware, and integration with enterprise systems
-
Experience in a sales support role or working closely with sales teams
-
Experience selling to and working with the United State government, including the Department of Defense, or other high-security environments and customers
-
Experience in a consulting or professional services environment
-
Certifications in relevant AI technologies or platforms
