La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Grants Writer Manager for our Fund Development department in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:  

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is seeking a skilled and motivated Grants Manager to lead the development, submission, and management of government grant proposals at the State, Federal, City, and County levels. This role is critical to securing funding that supports the hospital’s mission and strategic initiatives. The Grants Manager will identify opportunities, write and coordinate proposals, and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements. Ideal candidates will have experience with healthcare grants, including Medicaid/Medicare, IDPH, and SAMHSA, and a strong understanding of healthcare delivery and care coordination.

Essential Grants Writer Manager Functions: 

  • Research, identify and analyze new funding opportunities from government agencies that would apply to the La Rabida mission.
  • Manage existing grants and oversee the management, maintenance/renewal and reporting.
  • Develop, write, edit and submit grant proposals on deadlines that include project description, budgetary guidelines and evaluation.
  • Work with program staff, financial staff, and development staff to create narrative, evaluation expectations, and budget components of proposals and reports in a timely and effective manner.
  • Attend departmental meetings to ensure staying up to date with program progress and accomplishments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with representatives from grant agencies and familiarize them with our mission, programs and services.
  • Identify and utilize a grant management system for tracking and project management.
  • Maintain a calendar related to grant funding opportunities, including proposal due dates, RFP release dates, and annual grant and contract opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned

What we need from you:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Required. Masters Degree Preferred.
  • Related Work Experience: 3+ years successful grants manager experience (Preferred in Non-Profit or health care industry.)
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated success in identifying and securing public and private funding. Experience with community-based health care, Infant and children, chronic illness, mental illness, or other issues affecting our client population.

Compensation Information:
$64,439.30 - $75,000.00.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred

Related Work Experience: Minimum three years successful grants manager experience (Preferred in Non-Profit or health care industry)

Licensure/Certification: None

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, fundraising software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge). Excellent writing, verbal editing, research and interpersonal communication skills.

Superior problem solving, analytical, decision making & team building skills

Detail oriented and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

Well organized with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

Excellent comprehensive knowledge of grant preparation and administration principles. Demonstrated success in identifying and securing public and private funding. Relevant experience includes not only professional advocacy on behalf of others, but personal experience with community-based health care, Infant and children, chronic illness, mental illness, or other issues affecting our client population.
