Client is seeking a professional, skilled tradesperson to join their team.Position Summary
The Carpenter performs skilled work in the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of structures and fixtures on both commercial and residential projects for a general contractor. This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards. The Carpenter works independently and as part of a team to complete assignments efficiently, safely, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including layout, framing, formwork, finish carpentry, and installation of doors, windows, hardware, and building components.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Identify problems on the job and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols to ensure an accident-free workplace.
- Use materials, supplies, and equipment efficiently to reduce waste and control project costs.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools and power tools.
- Complete assigned tasks and special projects from supervisors promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with superintendents, assistant superintendents, and foremen to achieve project milestones.
- Produce high-quality workmanship that meets company and project standards.
- Manage time effectively to complete tasks within scheduled timelines.
- Professionally accept direction and constructive feedback.
- Demonstrate flexibility and dependability, including the ability to work overtime, nights, or weekends when required.
- Follow infection control and cleanliness procedures when working in occupied or sensitive environments (e.g., schools, offices, healthcare settings).
- Exhibit initiative, motivation, and a strong work ethic with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of carpentry or general construction experience (apprenticeship or equivalent preferred).
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and standard carpentry techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of general construction methods and job site safety.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; bilingual preferred.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to high-quality craftsmanship.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments, indoors and outdoors.
