JOB SUMMARY
BKV Corporation is looking for an Environmental Specialist II in our Environmental Health Safety and Regulatory (EHSR) team. The Environmental Specialist II will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the Barnett upstream oil and gas asset to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements in programs, including air quality, SPCC, remediation, waste management and Texas regulatory compliance. 
Success requires the ability to manage projects and processes, work independently under limited supervision, and excellent communications and coaching skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical tasks the role is responsible for include:

  • Provide guidance and communicate environmental tasks to local operations personnel
  • Complete environmental compliance tasks, such as soil and water sampling, and waste profiling
  • Oversee soil and water remediation projects
  • Interface with agency personnel during inspections, inquiries and environmental events
  • Complete and submit regulatory required notices and reports (air, water and waste)
  • Manage legacy environmental projects/liabilities
  • Manage spill cleanup and facilitate spill reduction planning
  • Assist with waste management and disposal planning and tracking
  • Manage SPCC planning and compliance
  • Storm water permitting, planning, and compliance
  • Perform Wastewater monitoring and compliance
  • Perform environmental training within the operations teams
  • Assist with Hazardous materials compliance (DOT, PSM, RMP)
  • Assist with greenhouse gas, Quad O, and other air quality reporting and compliance
  • Participates and follows health and safety initiatives and trainings
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Conduct applicability determinations on projects for air compliance and air permitting requirements
  • Oversee consultants to draft and submit air permits/authorizations for all new and modified projects

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Texas Railroad Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Federal programs related to oil and gas production
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated performance working with operations and environmental compliance teams to deliver collaborative solutions and strong results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in technical writing, presentations, and training
  • Proficient in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Strong project management, coaching and leaderships skills
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to handle multiple projects
  • Analytical. Keen investigative, auditing, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety or other science related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 years of environmental experience in upstream oil and gas (consulting or operator)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is located in Fort Worth, Texas at BKV’s field office
  • Hybrid of indoor and outdoor working environments, including field operations, depending on assignment
