Consultant Position Summary

Mass Insight is seeking a highly effective instructional leader/coach for a short-term project focused on building leadership capacity and supporting the progress monitoring of instructional practices in a high school. This role requires a strong, secondary instructional lens, the ability to coach leaders, develop professional development arcs, and organize/visualize data in ways that drive action towards school goals. This support will be provided both in-person, onsite at a high school and virtually. The goal of this project is to build department head leadership capacity while supporting progress monitoring in classrooms to strengthen Tier 1 instruction and ultimately improve student outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Support the development of an arc of learning for collaborative planning time for four content areas: ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

o   Arc of learning for each content area to focus on professional development for teachers to implement key instructional strategies to improve Tier 1 instruction, aligned to the school improvement plan, goals, and priorities.

   Build the leadership capacity of department leads (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) to facilitate highly effective departmental collaborative planning meetings in alignment with the arc of learning

   Join two (2) departmental collaborative planning meetings each week (Monday mornings and Thursday mornings), in-person to lead, support the facilitation, and over time, gradually release the facilitation to the department lead

   Conduct eight (8) classroom walkthroughs each week (two for each content area – ELA, math, science, and social studies for a total of eight)

   Synthesize walkthrough data and build a data dashboard and/or visual to support the Instructional Leadership Team in progress monitoring their efforts; present data in a way that helps participants make meaning and determine next steps to reach school goals

   Virtually, join a portion of the Instructional Leadership Team meeting each Tuesday morning to share walkthrough data and support progress monitoring

   Weekly collaboration and coordination with internal team members and district partners, as needed to ensure aligned and coherent support.

   Build the trust of client-partners to ​influence​ and inspire partner actions, leveraging relational vs. positional authority.

   Navigating​ nuances across stakeholders,​including managing own resources and time.

   Operationalize a scope of work (e.g. take big goals and objectives and create a concrete plan).  

   Weekly collaboration and coordination with internal team members and district partners, as needed to ensure  aligned and coherent support.

   Collaborate with Directors/Managers to ensure ongoing communication, updates, and/or problem solving as needed.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS          

  Have at least ​​5​​ years of experience for those who have worked within or in partnership with K-12 schools​​​ or districts and responsible for coaching, consulting, and/or developing Principals, school leaders, or school leadership teams.

   Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

   Hold a bachelor's degree.
