Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer supporting federal programs, is seeking motivated, mechanically inclined individuals for multiple Tooling Apprentice / Bench Upgrader opportunities across Warren, Troy, and Auburn Hills.
This is a direct-hire, full-time opportunity designed for entry-level to early-career manufacturing professionals (1–3 years experience preferred) who are eager to build a long-term career in precision aerospace tooling and machining.
This role provides a clear advancement path into Machinist and Toolmaker positions for individuals who demonstrate strong work ethic, initiative, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to mastering the trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bench work including grinding, deburring, sanding, drilling, cutting, polishing, fitting, assembly, and tooling upgrades
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery
- Assist lead Toolmakers and Machinists with tooling repairs, modifications, and project support
- Act as project support for designated Toolmaker leaders
- Follow through on assigned tasks and directives in a timely manner
- Read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions
- Use basic measuring devices and maintain attention to precision standards
- Maintain organized work areas in compliance with aerospace quality and safety standards
- Follow company safety guidelines and procedures at all times
- Support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma and/or relevant manufacturing experience
- 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, tooling, or mechanical experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hand and power tools
- Basic blueprint reading experience preferred
- Basic toolbox kit is a plus but not required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Good communication skills and professional demeanor
- Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and integrity
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, balance, and rotate trunk
- Ability to lift 30+ pounds
- Strong manual dexterity required
Work Schedule
Standard work schedule averages approximately 56 hours per week, including Saturday shifts. Consistent overtime is available and expected due to strong production demand. Day and night shift(s) availablew.

- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Must be able to pass a background check
