POSITION DESCRIPTION
Drafter I - Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of basic components, facilities and/or systems. Generates and/or modifies two-dimensional drawings based on information from others. Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer.
Drafter II - Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of components, facilities and/or systems. Generates and/or modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity based on information from others. Uses industry codes, standards, and customer specifications to prepare work plans, drawings and layouts. Works with engineering team to ensure drawing quality. Develops CAD drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer. Performs calculations in support of technical problems. Applies engineering design principles to design and fabrication of components and assemblies as directed. Produces work in accordance with budget and schedule constraints. Understands fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to designated discipline. Works independently and as part of a team. Participates in process improvement activities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Drafter I - Position typically requires a high school diploma and a minimum one-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Drafter II - Position typically requires a high school diploma and three-to-five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience with drafting tools, specifically CAD.
- Mechanical drafting experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance.
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Q Clearance.
- Experience with BIM (Building Integrated Model)
- CAD Certification.
LOCATION
- Los Alamos National Lab – 100% onsite position.
- Per-diem is expected if non-local.
- 4/10 schedule 5am to 330pm
- 2 year duration assignment- possibility of conversion after.
- TA-3 Tech Area is the work area.
