The Master Data Specialist will ensure master data is accurate and entered in ingredient database at the time of raw material approval and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the raw material, as well as identify opportunities to update and maintain accurate and relevant data supporting cross-functional teams. 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Qualify new ingredients in coordination with Food technologists (developers) to support food product launches. Review and input ingredient data ingredient database regionally in accordance with regional & global standards. Ensure the data is accurate, reliable and relevant to market needs and is compliant to standards.
  • Responsible for updating & maintaining ingredient master data. In the event of changes to ingredients, escalate accordingly to the impacted departments for change to be properly managed (Operations, NPD, Quality, Procurement, NPD, IPM etc.) 
  • This position is expected to manage new ingredient approval processes adhering to Food regulations and labelling laws, food safety, quality, and customer requirements. Review and approve food ingredient documentation for use in both experimental and commercial products.
  • Lead ingredient approval review meetings to ensure the team is aligned on priorities and next steps for approval of ingredients. This role will collaborate Supplier Quality team / Quality Managers for the supplier approval program and food safety documentation. 
  • Initiate and independently process ingredients to support new product launches within the framework of ingredient master data in cooperation in conjunction with procurement, operations, NPD, quality etc.
  • Responsible for raw material status management throughout the raw material lifecycle- creation to discontinuation & reactivation.
  • Reporting of master data and raw material approval metrics (PPI /KPI) and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Procurement, Operations, IPM, NPD etc.) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for creation and revision of relevant documented information (SOPs, work instructions, etc.) to ensure organization knowledge is available for raw material approval and master data management.
  • Provide support to customer documentation team to ensure raw material master data and documents are available for customer inquiries for both new and existing raw materials.
  • Functional subject matter expert on raw material master data to support product/process design. 
  • Take on additional responsibility potentially identified within the scope of ingredient portfolio management.
  • Work with business process owners within the organization to ensure ongoing 3rd party certification standards related to raw material management (organic, kosher, non-GMO, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, etc.)
  • Must report all food safety risks related to raw material activities and processes to his/her manager and to the supplier quality team.
  • Must act accordingly to the applicable compliance guidelines.

 

Education / Training:

  • Experience – seeking 1-3 years’ experience in CPG or B2B companies or relevant internship experience within a food manufacturing industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or comparable technical discipline 

Knowledge / Professional Experience:

  • Attention to detail, eye for accuracy
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks with ability to manage time and focus on priorities
  • Food ingredient specification knowledge
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Ability to work with Autonomy
  • Strong skills for collaborating with other teams
  • Accurate Data management experience
  • Strong Computer Skills required
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Position requires onsite working at Brecksville, Ohio Company headquarters
