The Opportunity
A highly regarded insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Senior Trial Attorney or Trial Attorney in Farmington, Connecticut. This position is hybrid: two days onsite; three days remote with travel for legal proceedings and related matters. Base salary is $130K-$168K at the Trial Attorney level with a 10% bonus; $145K-$189K at the Senior Trial Attorney level with a 15% bonus. Primary Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for the defense of a wide range of workers' compensation cases from inception to resolution. The position requires exceptional client communication skills, documented trial skills as well as the ability to report and respond to the carrier with insight and timeliness. Additional duties include the following:
- Independently represent clients in workers’ compensation matters before the court
- Develop and execute defense strategies based on legal and factual analysis
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
- Manage all aspects of litigation, including trials and appeals
- Communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and the court
- Provide timely legal advice and case updates
- Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and court appearances
- Ensure efficient and timely resolution of assigned cases
- Assist in developing training materials and presenting to internal teams
- Maintain compliance with professional standards and ethical guidelines
- Travel as needed for court appearances, depositions, and meetings
- Stay current with legal developments through continuing education
Requirements
- Extensive litigation experience (7+ years for the Trial Attorney; 15+ years for the Senior Trial Attorney )
- Minimum 7+ years of Connecticut workers’ compensation experience
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active Connecticut Bar membership in good standing
- Strong trial, research, writing, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with legal case management systems and standard office software
- Trial experience and multi-state bar admission preferred
