POSITION DESCRIPTION
Leads and performs nuclear and non-nuclear risk and hazard analyses to ensure safe operation of nuclear and/or non-nuclear facilities. Specific duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to: hazard identification, hazard analysis, facility hazard categorization, accident analysis, selection of controls, and development of associated safety basis documents including unreviewed safety question determinations, documented safety analysis, technical safety requirements, safety assessment documents, facility safety plans, and facility safety analysis.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 12+ years of experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior Safety Basis Experience.
- USQ Knowledge.
- Prior Nuclear experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Q is highly preferred.
- Candidate ideally needs to be located or relocated to the Los Alamos area.
- Prior USQ experience.
LOCATION
- Los Alamos National Lab – Hybrid with specific expectations for onsite days and location.
- Must be open to Saturday or Sunday as working days.
- Initial one year assignment with possibility of extension or conversion.
- OT is possible.
- Will be supporting USQ efforts at TA-55. Increased pace of work at the facility for the next year requires some contingent assistance as work load will decrease after.
- Task oriented assignment, resource will need time to qualify. May require work on the weekends to meet facility needs.
