The Role 

The Lead Project Manager is a senior-level leadership role responsible for driving the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex fiber network expansion and construction programs. This position will be responsible for several crucial milestones in the end-to-end project lifecycle, from market identification and stakeholder engagement through survey, engineering, build readiness, construction execution, and activation. The Lead Project Manager provides strategic oversight across multiple workstreams and teams while serving as the primary escalation point for project risks, dependencies, and executive communications. This role partners closely with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Sales, Finance, and external partners to accelerate deployment velocity, optimize project performance, and ensure alignment with business objectives. The Lead Project Manager is expected to lead high-performing teams, influence senior leaders, and drive continuous process improvements that support scalable fiber growth initiatives.

The Main Responsibilities

Program & Project Leadership

  • Lead multiple large-scale fiber deployment and infrastructure projects simultaneously from initiation through completion.
  • Establish project governance, success criteria, milestones, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery and achievement of business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary owner for project execution, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within approved budgets.

Fiber Network Deployment & Construction Management

  • Oversee fiber expansion efforts including build area identification, feasibility review, engineering coordination, construction planning, and deployment execution.
  • Partner with internal and external construction teams to ensure build readiness and maximize deployment velocity.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively remove barriers impacting delivery timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, permitting requirements, and deployment processes.
  • Drive improvements that accelerate unit recovery and network activation.

Stakeholder & Executive Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners, property stakeholders, vendors, and leadership teams.
  • Present project status, risks, financial performance, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Lead executive-level reviews, steering committees, and project governance meetings.
  • Translate complex project information into concise, actionable updates for senior leadership.
  • Align stakeholders on priorities, expectations, and business outcomes.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers, Coordinators, and support resources.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and development plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Support workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Promote best practices in project management and execution across the organization.

Reporting, Analytics & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain project dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting packages.
  • Utilize Power BI, Smartsheet, Salesforce Sitetracker, and other project management tools to provide actionable insights.
  • Analyze project performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery speed.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that drive scalability and operational effectiveness.
  • Standardize project management methodologies, documentation, and reporting frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, Project Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of Fiber or Telecommunications industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience, including direct supervision and development of team members.
  • Minimum 5 years of Project or Program Management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through planning, execution, delivery, schedule management, budget accountability, and operational transition.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting project updates, business cases, risks, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership teams.
  • Strong experience leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influence skills.
  • Experience managing large-scale fiber deployment, construction, network expansion, or telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, or related project management certification.
  • Advanced proficiency with Salesforce Sitetracker, Microsoft Smartsheet, Power BI, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards and portfolio reporting.
  • Experience with telecom construction, engineering, permitting, and deployment operations.
  • Knowledge of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), network expansion, and broadband infrastructure programs.
  • Experience driving organizational change and process transformation initiatives.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
