Teacher Assistant (CDA or AA Degree Required) 

V-Tech Solutions is seeking Teacher’s Aides to join the team and help create a positive learning experience while supporting children’s growth, development, and participation in daily classroom activities. 

V-Tech Solutions provides programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The programs serve individuals across the lifespan, from infants and toddlers to preschoolers and adults. 

Position Summary

The Early Learning Center (ELC) provides high-quality early childhood education and early intervention for children with and without disabilities in an inclusive learning environment. 

The Teacher Assistant works closely with classroom teachers and other staff to support children's learning, development, safety, and daily needs while helping maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate classroom activities. 

  • Support teachers with daily classroom instruction and routines. 

  • Assume responsibility for the classroom when the Teacher is absent. 

  • Plan and facilitate small-group learning activities. 

  • Provide appropriate care, supervision, and assistance to preschool children. 

  • Assist children with dressing, toileting, transitions, and other daily-care needs. 

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment. 

  • Follow all health, sanitation, safety, and program procedures. 

  • Communicate professionally with parents and document parent communications. 

  • Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, professional development, and training activities. 

  • Support children with developmental, behavioral, and physical needs. 

  • Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment for all children. 

Required Qualifications 

  • High school diploma and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR 

  • Associate degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education. 

  • Ability to work effectively with young children in an educational or childcare setting. 

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to follow established classroom, health, safety, and sanitation procedures. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. 

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and transition between sitting and standing. 

  • Ability to assist children with dressing, toileting, and other personal care needs. 

  • Ability to safely transfer and assist children using wheelchairs, strollers, chairs, therapy equipment, changing tables, and cribs. 

  • Ability to respond appropriately to children who may run, bolt, or require immediate intervention. 

  • Ability to assist with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary. 

  • Ability to safely support children with developmental, behavioral, and physical disabilities. 

Additional Requirement 

Candidates must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to their first day of employment. 

Schedule & Location 

  • Location: SE Washington, DC 

  • Employment Type: Full-time 

  • Hours: 40 hours per week 

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday 

  • Available Shifts: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM 

Compensation 

  • $23.43/hour for candidates with a CDA 

  • $24.80/hour for candidates with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
