La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring Registered Nurses/(RN) for the inpatient unit in Chicago, IL. We’re offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified individuals!

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse focuses on developing skills to guide him/her over a continuum of basic patient care through more complex assignments, assessing the needs of acute and chronically ill children using effective communication with patients/families and team members. The Staff Registered Nurse uses the nursing process in a family-centered interdisciplinary context to coordinate care and achieve team goals.Jo
Essential Registered Nurse Functions:
Nursing Process:- Complete initial and ongoing assessments and actively seek assistance to verify assessments/changes noted
- Identifies problems e.g., nursing diagnosis, and adds to problem list/kardex.
- Carry out interventions defined by policy or individual plan of care and prescribed orders. Seeks assistance when the relationship between orders and assessment is unclear. (e.g., abnormal lab values.) Maintains working knowledge of routine procedures, techniques, and treatments as defined in policy.
- Evaluate interventions against desired goals and seek input on changes.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses manually and electronically. Verifies and transcribes medical orders.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment by providing care that follows policies and procedures in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrate Unit Specific skills and competencies (e.g., Tracheostomy Certification.)
- Knowledgeable in using patient care equipment; recognizes malfunction, takes out of services, and reports immediately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and safety precautions (e.g. isolation, IV line care.)
- Displays basic knowledge of JCAHO, IDPH, HIPPA, and other regulatory requirements; participates in continuous preparation for survey.
- Aware of quality improvement initiatives on the unit and in the hospital and seeks to incorporate information from projects into practice. Monitor adlrch.orgs quality indicators as directed.
- Reads at least two (2) nursing, research, and quality articles yearly.
- Completes and routes occurrence reports appropriately.
- Assesses patient/family readiness to learn.
- Sets mutual goals and provides patient/family education, evaluates the efficacy of teaching, and documents in the patient record.
- Obtains education materials and uses tools appropriate to the patient's age and/or special needs.
- Provide specific discharge instructions for this episode of care.
- Utilizes interpreter services as necessary.
- Attends/completes all mandatory education and in-services within the appropriate timeframe.
- Practices service excellence behaviors.
- Seeking experiences to develop clinical knowledge base and technical skills.
- Delegate patient care tasks to other members of the team; including assigning responsibilities, evaluating completion of tasks, and providing education, feedback, and coaching to complete tasks.
- Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills.
- Promotes collaboration among healthcare team members.
- Follows the chain of command for problem resolution.
- Attends at least four (4) hours annually of non-mandatory continuing education.
- Participate in at least six (6) monthly nursing staff meetings.
- Acquires and maintains basic certifications as required: BLS/PALS.
What we need from you:- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Related Work Experience: Pediatric Experience required, PICU & NICU preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois; CPR Required (only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted)

Compensation Information:
Pay Range: $35.00 - $63.29
