This posting is for either a Product Development or Manufacturing Engineering position within restor3d.  

BACKGROUND
restor3d enables surgeons to improve the reconstruction and repair of the human body through 3D printed implants with enhanced anatomical fit and superior integrative properties. We leverage expertise and experience in 3D printing of key biomedical materials spanning a wide range of properties, seeking to improve medical device solutions.
 
POSITION SUMMARIES
The Upper Extremity Product Development Intern will work with the Upper Extremity team to support the development of implants and instrumentation. The position will include work along the entire product development lifecycle including initial design and development, testing, regulatory submissions, and field support. ​Remote work is NOT available for this position. 

The Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of processes associated with the fabrication of medical devices.

Must be authorized to work in the United States. 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES 

Product Development Co-op
Principal responsibilities for the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. 
  • Design orthopedic implants & instrumentation 
  • Gain clinical use understanding through literature and interactions with internal team & surgeons 
  • Research current surgical techniques and design considerations 
  • Understand competitive landscape of products and restor3d’s value proposition 
  • Produce implant and instruments (drivers, depth gauges, drill guides, etc.) 3D CAD models using SolidWorks  
  • Print metal and polymer implant/instrument prototypes for feasibility and verification testing 
  • Work closely with operations and/or supplier to ensure manufacturability of design work 
  • Contribute to DHF documents potentially including: 
  • Drawings of implants and instruments to guide manufacturing of prototype and production part 
  • Design inputs and outputs to tie user needs to verification & validation activities 
  • DFMEA, risk management plan & report to identify, mitigate and document design risks 
  • Surgical technique guide/IFU for clinical use 
Manufacturing Engineer Co-op
Principal responsibilities for the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Development and Implementation of manufacturing processes for medical devices including but not limited to implants, instruments, and production aids.
  • Support design for manufacturability initiatives for new product development.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and manage implementation.
  • Collaborate with other departments for prototyping and process capability studies.
  • Perform mechanical testing for product development and production monitoring.
  • Train and assist line operators on manufacturing processes and use of equipment.
  • Assist with IQ, OQ, and PQ of equipment and processes.
