Position Summary
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) supports Moda’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This role gathers and documents business requirements, develops data dictionaries and functional requirements, analyzes system processes, and designs functional solutions. The Senior BSA supports upgrades, vendor integrations, and product enhancements, and plays a key role throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, testing, implementation, and post-production support. This is a FT WFH position. 


Pay Range
$91,528.82 - $119,013.51​​​ annually (depending on experience)
*This role may be classified as hourly (non-exempt) depending on the applicant's location. Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

Required Skills, Experience & Education:

  1. 8+ years of experience in technical or business analysis, including at least 5 years as a Business Systems Analyst.
  2. 5 years of experience building and maintaining functional and business documentation and data-related documentation; strong procedural and technical writing skills.
  3. 5 years of experience working with data teams and data warehouses.
  4. Ability to read, write, and execute SQL statements; no development required.
  5. Expert facilitation skills for both large and small group meetings or working sessions.
  6. Strong critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively in production support and independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  10. Effective verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds.
  11. Familiarity with health insurance administration or clinical/operational healthcare preferred.
  12. Experience with SQL Server and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Synapse/Fabric, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks) a plus.
  13. Familiarity with modern data transformation tools such as dbt or Coalesce nice to have.

 

Primary Functions:

  1. Lead requirements engineering across the development lifecycle, including elicitation, analysis, and prioritization of functional and non functional requirements.
  2. Mentor junior analysts and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic objectives.
  3. Partner with business and technical leaders to define and validate functional specifications and acceptance criteria for high impact initiatives.
  4. Identify and source data related projects aligned with organizational priorities and EDW capabilities.
  5. Author and review technical documentation, ensuring compliance with EDW standards.
  6. Develop business cases, process models, training materials, test scripts, and metrics for process improvements.
  7. Participate in system design reviews, data flow reviews, and implementation planning; recommend design alternatives as needed.
  8. Develop and execute test plans and scenarios to ensure stakeholder requirements are met.
  9. Perform post implementation QA and troubleshooting with appropriate documentation.
  10. Collaborate with IT and project managers on EDW related initiatives.
  11. Provide training and communicate system changes to end users.
  12. Support production operations, scope bug fixes, and ensure timely resolution of complex data issues.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with extensive close PC and keyboard use, constant sitting, and frequent phone communication. Must be able to navigate multiple computer screens. A reliable, high-speed, hard-wired internet connection required to support remote or hybrid work. Must be comfortable being on camera for virtual training and meetings. Work in excess of standard workweek, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need. Must be able to adjust schedule to accommodate production support needs, project schedules and peak work periods.
  • Internally with all levels of Moda personnel and business units.  Externally with vendors, consultants, and contractors.
