Reports To:        CFO

Location:        Fully Remote

Supervises:        1 Staff Accountant

Hiring Salary:     $130,000-$165,000 based on qualifications and experience.

Position Summary:  The Associate Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for developing and managing daily financial processes, budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis. This position will also manage compliance, evaluate financial resource allocations, and oversee annual audits and tax filings.

 

Finance Team Management 

  • Manage the daily operations of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash reconciliations.

  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely.

  • Monitor accounting standards and regulatory changes, communicate necessary updates to the team, and devise plans to implement the changes.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, conduct training and development programs, and ensure that team members have the necessary skills and resources to excel in their roles.

  • Oversee all audits, tax, regulatory, and insurance activities.

  • Oversee collection processes.

  • Oversee payroll, benefits, and 401(k) compliance.

  • Oversee the general ledger function, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions and journal entries.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Design, create, and prepare financial reports that present valuable information to the board.

  • Analyze financial reports.

  • Establish effective methods to document transactions and processes.

  • Ensure timely compliance with regulatory reporting and remittances.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Monitor cash and investments. 

  • Ensure budget managers have the tools they need to manage their respective areas effectively.

  • Meet with budget managers monthly to review transactions and update forecasts.

  • Create financial models to aid decision-making. 

  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and procedures.

  • Update and monitor an effective internal control system.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and procedures and implement changes.

 

Organizational Support 

  • Leverage technology and automation to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and reduce the risk of errors.

  • Identify opportunities to implement accounting software, ERP systems, and other tools to enhance productivity and accuracy.    

  • Create financial models for strategic initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development of financial goals and objectives and provide support in implementing financial strategies to drive organizational growth and success.

  • Manage budgetary operations for the organization.

  • Establish and maintain contacts with vendors, financial institutions, and the investment community.

  • Support Human Resources processes.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

  • Experience (5-8 years) supervising an accounting team or a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems and reporting, and regulatory requirements of nonprofit organizations.

 

Required Travel:

Travel to 2 staff retreats plus 2 board meetings per year is required for this position.

 

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.

Skilled in database and CRM software usage (Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience a plus) preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Certified Public Accountant preferred but not required.

Pay Range
$130,000.00   Annually to $165,000.00   Annually
